INSPIRED BY… | OSCAR BEST ACTOR NOMINEES 2012
The Oscars are that event everyone loves to hate. Despite this, I still have a soft spot for them. Call me old fashioned, but if you strip away all the hype, Joan rivers pre-shows, and gratuitous Brangelina close-ups, the Academy Awards are still the most sincere way America can celebrate one of our most beloved, and talent filled industries – filmmaking. This year, I’m paying a small homage to the event by creating kits inspired by the Best Actor nominated performances, which for the first time in a long time I actually can get behind.
‘Inspired by’ is the key phrase here, as the goal was not to re-create costumes, but to put together outfits - based on each character’s style - that a real man might wear. In the spirit of the Oscars, this exercise took me much longer than anticipated, resulting in far too many drinks and a late night, but it was also the most mindless fun I’ve had in a long time. Cheers to that. - M
P.S. All of these were assembled using Svpply’s Sets feature, which made the entire process easier than you can imagine. Click through each image to see the Set on Svpply.
