(CAPSULE) // BRAND HIGHLIGHT: TIMBERLAND
Probably one of the more surprising showings was from Timberland, yep, that Timberland. Looks like they’ve been changing their tune a bit with the entirely new workwear inspired line, Abington, and freshly revamped GT Scramble line up. Both are good moves for the brand, which is smartly seeking more traction with forward-dressing urbanites, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I saw a fair amount of these in the near future. Some more info on both lines below. – M
Abington F/W 2012
The line draws its moniker from Timberland‘s original name, The Abington Shoe Company. Appropriately, these boots are inspired by those worn by the ancestors of today’s American workers. Lightweight and sturdy, all the footwear in this collection is made with genuine Horween leather. The most handsome of the lot included the Hiker Boot, which stood out with contrast laces (below), the Low Guide Boot and, the Alpine Oxford, which incorporates Woolrich wool into the shoe upper.

GT Scramble F/W 2012
As the name suggests, Timberland took elements of hiking boots past and remixed them to create this line of hiking shoes. There’s actually to models: a water proof version which is entirely made of a treated suede, and, my personal favorite, the classic sneaker-like version in suede and nylon. It might be too early to tell but, I wouldn’t hate if guys wanted to wear these with rolled up chinos and the down-vest/blazer combo next Fall.
